Lecture on Employment Opportunities for Muslims in Private Corporate Sector
New Delhi, Feb. 8: “If the government provides Muslims with loans and incentives, and gives them subsidies, their economic conditions could be improved, as majority of Muslims are associated with cottage or small-scale industries”, observed Dr MY Khan, a former director of the Reserve Bank of India. He was speaking on “Employment Opportunities for Muslims in Private Corporate Sector” at IOS (Institute of Objective Studies) headquarters on February 7. He said Muslim youths found better job opportunities in multi-national corporations (MNCs) and private companies run on the basis of modern management. And they had been using them.
Mr Khan stressed “self-help” principle. “There must be a change from within the community. In order to compete in the global market, Muslims will have to prove themselves in terms of skill and knowledge.”
Dr Ausaf Ahmad, editor quarterly Urdu journal Mutaleat, presided over the meeting, which was started with recitation from the Holy Qur’an by Maulana Sarfaraz Alam Qasmi.
