New Delhi, Dec. 20: Dr Abusaleh Shariff, member-secretary of the PM’s high level committee on Muslim backwardness, said the Justice Rajindar Sachar Committee Report was one of a kind. No other report like this was ever formulated. Mr Shariff was speaking at a power-point presentation of the same report at the Delhi-based headquarters of the Institute of Objective Studies (IOS) on December 18.

Using power-point slides, economist Dr Ausaf Ahmed discussed the report in detail. An interaction between the Dr Shariff and the audience followed. In his presidential remarks Chairman of the Institute Dr Mohammad Manzoor Alam said he had reasons to be optimistic about some concrete initiatives of the Congress-led UPA government to empower Muslims.
